Cutting and Pasting in the Editor

One of the most powerful features of the WebCrimson editor is that anything you cut and paste will retain its HTML formatting.

When you're cutting and pasting, make sure you keep that in mind!

1. Cutting Text in the Editor

Cutting text from the WebCrimson WYSIWYG editor works just like any desktop application: the text disappears from the editor and is stored in your clipboard.

The clipboard retains any HTML formatting of the text in the Editor, so you can cut and paste from one section of the editor to another without fear of losing formatting.

2. Pasting Text From the Web

When you paste text that you've copied from other websites, you'll notice that the WYSIWYG editor retains all of the formatting from the website... including bolds, italics, and even images.  Even TABLEs will be transferred into the Editor intact.

One note: any relative links or images in your clipboard will automatically be converted into absolute links when you paste them in.

3. Pasting Text from Microsoft Word

WebCrimson will preserve all formatting when you paste in text from Microsoft Word.

Be careful though: Microsoft Word inserts all kinds of unusual HTML to retain the exact formatting and look of a Word document...  sometimes it's easier to just format the text by hand yourself.

We'll be launching a feature soon to "clean up" HTML from Microsoft Word... stay tuned!
