How do I sign up for the WebCrimson Affiliate Program?
To begin your enrollment in the Program, you must first register as a WebCrimson Member (either by signing up for any of the WebCrimson Services or joining the WebCrimson Designer Affiliate Program). Your WebCrimson Membership will include an "Affiliate Headquarters" area where you will find all the tools necessary to participate in the Program.
To complete your enrollment in the Program, you must visit your "Affiliate Headquarters" and indicate that you have read, understood and accept the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
Does it cost me anything to join or participate?
No - if you are a WebCrimson member, the program is totally free to join and there are absolutely no fees for participating in the program. It's just a way for you to make money through WebCrimson.
If you are not yet a WebCrimson member, you may join for free by becoming a member of the WebCrimson Designer Reseller Program.
Can I participate if I live outside of the U.S.?
Yes - we have many participants from countries outside of the United States. Please note: all referral earnings are currently paid in U.S. dollars. |

Referral Tracking - Your Affiliate Number, Links and Graphics |
|
How do you know when I refer someone to WebCrimson?
As soon as you enroll in the program, we'll give you a special Affiliate Number along with a set Links and Graphics that contain your Affiliate Number. If anyone inputs your Affiliate Number during the WebCrimson Sign Up Process or just clicks on one of your special Links and then signs up for WebCrimson, we can track that activity and automatically attribute that individual to you as a WebCrimson Referral.
How soon after someone clicks my Affiliate Link do they have to Sign Up?
To help increase your chances of receiving Referral credits, WebCrimson has programmed a special "Affiliate Session" that lasts for up to 30 days after someone clicks on your Affiliate Link. If that person signs up to WebCrimson at any time during this Affiliate Session, we will attribute that person to you as a WebCrimson Referral.
An Affiliate Session ends upon one of the following events: 1. thirty (30) days elapse after the Referral's initial click-through, 2. the Referral successfully completes the Sign Up Process, or 3. the Referral follows another Affiliate Link to our site.
(Please Note: for an Affiliate Session to last this full 30 days, your Referral must have "cookies" enabled.)
What if they don't have "cookies" enabled?
Like most affiliate programs, WebCrimson uses a technology called "cookies" to track your referrals. If a potential referral is using a system that does not support cookies when she clicks through an Affiliate Link, WebCrimson cannot initiate or track an "Affiliate Session" (as described above, Affiliate Sessions allow you to receive a Referral Credit for up to 30 days after your Referral clicks on your Affiliate Link).
But don't worry! The vast majority of your potential referrals will likely have cookies enabled on their systems.
And even if your potential referral does not have cookies enabled, you can still earn your Referral Credits if that person either manually inputs your Affiliate Number during the Sign Up Process or successfully completes the Sign Up Process immediately after clicking through your Affiliate Link. |

Referral Fees and Activity Reporting |
|
How are my Referral Fees calculated?
You can earn two types of Referral Fees for every Referral who purchases WebCrimson Services:
- Bounties - you will earn a one-time Referral Bounty for every "Confirmed" Referral that you generate ("Confirmed Referrals" are Referrals who who have remained WebCrimson Clients through the end of their 30-Day Money Back Guarantee period).
- Royalties - Depending upon your Affiliate Level, you may also earn recurring Referral Royalties calculated as a percentage of the total "WebCrimson Service Fees" paid by each of your Referrals. (Please Note: "WebCrimson Service Fees" do not include initial WebCrimson Setup Fees or any fees paid for "Professional Services" provided by WebCrimson, as discussed in our WebCrimson Service Plans and Pricing.)
What about Second-Tier Commissions?
Of course! If any of your Referrals participate in the WebCrimson Affiliate Program, you will earn Second-Tier Commissions calculated as a percentage of the total Affiliate Fees earned by your Referrals. This amount is not deducted from their affiliate fees, but rather from the fees normally collected by WebCrimson. Your Referrals earn full affiliate fees just like you.
How Much Can I Earn?
The WebCrimson Affiliate Program is divided into levels based on your total number of WebCrimson Referrals. The more Active Client Referrals you accumulate, the greater your Referral Earnings Potential:

10% | Why do I have a negative Earnings Balance?
On rare occasions, someone who you refer to WebCrimson may return a sale after you have already received your referral fee. If a sale that generated a referral fee is returned by the customer (e.g. if the customer initiates a chargeback or receives a refund), we will deduct the corresponding referral fee from your account balance. You may have a negative balance if your account is debited in this way, and you do not have an adequate account balance (from more recent referrals) to cover these debits.
If you have a negative account balance at the end of a calendar month (as described above), you must make arrangements to bring your account balance back to zero. Please refer to the WebCrimson Affiliate Program Agreement for more details. |
|
When do I get paid?
WebCrimson will pay you referral fees on a monthly basis, approximately 60 days following the end of each calendar month in which your total accrued earnings is at least $100. (In other words, you can earn a regular monthly payment, up to 12 checks per year! The ends of calendar months are as follows: January 31, February 28, March 31, April 30, May 31, June 30, July 31, August 31, September 30, October 31, November 30, and December 31.)
Many affiliate programs pay you only once every three months. But we know that you have bills to pay every single month, so we've made arrangements to pay your referral fees every single month.
How do I get paid?
WebCrimson will pay you referral fees according to the "preferred payment method" that you select. You may choose from the following preferred payment methods:
- Cash - we will make at least one of these choices available to you, and add more options over time: 1. send you a check in U.S. Dollars, 2. issue a credit to your credit card, 3. or issue a credit or transfer a payment to another account that you own, such as a PayPal account
- Credit for Your WebCrimson Services - not currently available (we will announce this option when available)
- A Combination of Cash and Credit for Your WebCrimson Services
What happens to my earnings if they do not reach the minimum payment amount?
If the referral fees payable to you at the end of any calendar month total less than $100, we will roll over (add) any accrued earnings to your next month's balance and continue to do so until your total accrued earnings is at least $100 or (if earlier) until this Agreement is terminated.

Communicating and Promoting Your Participation in the Program |
|
How may I describe my role in this program and my relationship to WebCrimson?
As a member of this program, you may describe yourself as a "Member of the WebCrimson Affiliate Program" or make other similar statements. But you must be sure not to create confusion or misrepresent the nature of your or any other party's relationship to WebCrimson. You must clearly represent yourself and your website as entities independent from WebCrimson, the novelbooksinc.com website, WebCrimson's partners, and any website of WebCrimson's partners.
What is your policy on unsolicited commercial email?
WebCrimson views unsolicited commercial email (a.k.a. "spam") as a violation of the WebCrimson Service Agreement. Any member of the WebCrimson Affiliate Program who is found to engage in "spamming" or related activities (e.g. unauthorized postings to non-commercial newsgroups, cross-postings to multiple newsgroups, or promoting yourself or your website in any way that effectively conceals or misrepresents your identity, domain name, or return e-mail address) may have their referral fees withheld and/or be immediately removed from the program as outlined in the WebCrimson Affiliate Program Agreement.
In other words, please don't spam or engage in any similar activities.
May I use email (at all) to notify others about WebCrimson or the WebCrimson Affiliate Program?
Sure. In fact, we encourage the use of email to help you generate more referrals and earn more referral fees, as long as your emails do not constitute spam or any related activity.
To be safe, please limit your emails to close personal or professional acquaintances, or individuals who are already customers or subscribers to your website or services (in all cases, please be sure to provide a clear method for each of your recipients to remove themselves from future mailings).
You may also promote WebCrimson or your involvement in the program via postings to newsgroups that you own or that specifically welcome commercial messages (please consult the newsgroup FAQ or moderators to be sure that such messages are allowed). |

Using the WebCrimson Affiliate Program for Your Business |
|
Do you notify the IRS of my earnings through this program?
If you earn more than $600 in a calendar year (it's surprisingly easy to do!), WebCrimson is legally required to file a 1099 form with the IRS, naming you (the payee) as a contractor who has received a taxable amount of income from us.
Do I need a business license to participate in the program?
No, you do not need a business license. Many of our members participate as individuals or otherwise without a business license.
Do you require exclusivity to participate in the program?
No, we do not require exclusivity. You may participate in as many similar programs as you like while you are a member of the WebCrimson Affiliate Program. (Please note: other programs, however, may require exclusivity. Please check and abide by the Terms and Conditions of other programs to which you may want to belong.) |

- U.S. citizens
- U.S. residents
- U.S. corporations
- Other non-U.S. individuals or entities who may be required to pay U.S. taxes.
If you fall into one of these categories, we are required to have your tax information on file in order to pay you any fees earned through the Program.
If you do not fall into one of these categories and you are not otherwise required to file any tax returns in the U.S., you do not need to provide your tax information.
I am not a U.S. citizen or resident, but I am participating in the Program through a business I own that is taxable in the U.S. Do I need to provide my tax information or file any tax forms?
Yes, if you fall into this category, you must provide WebCrimson with a completed Form W-8ECI in order to receive any earnings through the Program. You can find and download the U.S. Treasury Form W-8 ECI at the following link: U.S. Tax Forms.
